Turmites is a screen saver module that works with After Dark™ and After Dark™ compatible screen savers (DarkSide of the Macintosh is my favorite, and it's shareware!)
Turmites was inspired by an article in the "Computer Recreations" column of the September 1989 issue of Scientific American. The article described an implementation of a "Turing machine" that worked in a two dimensional environment, the screen. Turing machines are named after the British mathematician Alan M. Turing, who first proposed them as a way to define computation. In effect, a Turing machine is the simplest digital computing machine. It can compute anything that a modern computer can-as long as it is given enough time.
Since nobody reads "Read Me" files anyway, I decided to include a basic help facility in the pertinent places. If you're reading this now, stop immediately and go play with the module! ;-).
